MUSIC LESSONS AT PLAYER 1

Our lessons are designed to cater to everyone, regardless of your experience or goals in music, or your budget!
​

If you love music, but not sure where to start, we recommend the Music Exploration Group. Also offered for adults!
​

If you want to pick up an instrument again as an adult, we provide flexible private lessons, group lessons or a "Taste Tester" Course of four weeks for any instrument or for vocal lessons.
​

If you're an experienced player looking for instrument or voice specific mentorship, or audition training, fill in our online form and we'll be in touch.
​

We aim to provide music education with an emphasis on a pathway to musicianship, and personal and professional development with groups such as Music Exploration and Rock Band to enhance students experience and promote learning playing with like minded musicians in a band.
​

We also provide an experience to perform on stage in our annual concert.
​

As a student you have early booking access to our group holiday programs.
​

All prices are inclusive of GST.

Invoices are billed in advance.

Payment of invoices are due upfront, or on a payment plan for a small fee.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS, UPDATED 2024
ENROLMENT
-
Enrolment applications are to be made online.
-
Mid term enrolments are accepted and charged on a pro rata basis.
​
​
PAYMENTS
-
All lesson prices are for a term.
-
All customers pay fees via our direct debit system.
-
A fortnightly payment plan is available.
-
Invoices are issued two weeks before the start of term.
-
Payment is taken in full on the first Monday of each term.
-
Failure to do so may result in the students’ position being forfeited.
-
Payment plans are available if requested in writing by spreading the total cost into five (5) separate instalments. A small administration charge is applied.
-
If the balance or instalment payments are not received on the due date, Player 1 reserves the right to suspend your lessons until such time as the fees owing have been paid.
-
In the event of default in payment/s, action will be taken to recover the debt. All recovery costs are incurred by you.

MISSED LESSONS POLICY
-
Fees cannot be refunded once term has commenced, full fees apply.
-
Mid-term enrolments are billed on a pro rata basis.
-
48 business hours notice is required by cancelling in the Student/Parent Portal if you must miss a lesson, otherwise the lesson is deemed taken.
-
A maximum of two cancellations per term is permitted.
-
Credits and Make-ups must be used within the current term and are not carried over.
-
Makeups are offered during the school holidays subject to teacher availability.
-
We cannot guarantee make-up lessons.
-
No credits are given for missed lessons.
-
If the teacher cancels a lesson, a make-up lesson will be provided.
-
School holiday programs and lessons held during the school holidays are billed in advance and cannot be refunded or rescheduled.
-
Group Lessons are billed in advance.
-
No make-up lessons will be provided for missed group lessons.
-
No credits will be provided for missed group lessons.
-
Group classes will go ahead regardless of numbers.
-
If a regular group teacher is away, they will be replaced by a substitute teacher. Classes will go ahead.

CANCELLATION OF LESSONS​

If you wish to cancel your lessons this must be via email to amanda@player1.com.au two weeks prior to the start of term or full fees will apply.

​
HOME PRACTICE AND MUSIC BOOKS
-
Home practice is essential to students’ progress.
-
Please bring your practice book and music tuition book to each lesson.
-
We recommend 30 minutes of practice per week; this can be made up of 5-10 mins daily during weekdays or in one 30 minute session.
-
By commencing lessons with Player 1 you are committing to supporting your child practice at home.

Teachers are unable to answer enquiries during lessons.

CHILD SAFETY
-
To ensure your child’s safety, children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Please be sure to pick them up promptly after lesson time.

Player 1 teachers and staff are NOT responsible for the supervision of children in the Player 1 Arcade or anywhere on Player 1 property before or after lessons.

Children are under supervision of the teacher during their lesson time, in the class room only.
-
Player 1 accepts no liability or responsibility for any injury sustained by a student that arises from any activity in Player 1.
-
Player 1 also accepts no liability or responsibility for any minors, siblings, friends or family of the students who attend Player 1.
-
Parents/Guardians are to advise Player 1 of any life threatening or serious medical conditions for children under 18 years of age.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAMS

If a program is cancelled by Player 1 a full refund will be given if the event cannot be rescheduled.

A program may be cancelled due to teacher illness or low numbers.

No refunds are issued for change of mind.

Refunds will be available in accordance with Australian Consumer Law in the instance of a major fault with our service.

COVID POLICY

Every effort will be made to ensure continuation of lessons.

If you choose not have an online lesson, the following options are available:

a time for a makeup lesson once lockdown finishes,
-
a Parent Zoom session reviewing a student's musical goals and progress, creating new goals for future sessions, home practice strategies, parent education,
-
musical resources for your child in the form of visuals, audio resources to reference for home practice,
-
a list of home practice tasks for a student to work on,
-
in the absence of a 30min lesson, teachers will designate that 30mins to design a program for their students, set achievable goals and routines.

TERM DATES 2024

Player 1 operates according to Western Australia school calendar.
We are closed on public holidays; no lessons are held and no fee is charged.
​
TERM 1
​
Monday 29th January – Thursday 28th March (9 weeks)
Monday 4th March Labour Day. No lessons as public holiday.
We are closed Good Friday, Term 1 finishes early (students are NOT charged).
​
TERM 2
Monday 15th April-Saturday 29th June (11 weeks)
Thursday 25th April, Anzac Day. No lessons, public holiday.
Monday 3th June, WA Day. No lessons, public holiday.
​
TERM 3
Monday 15th July-Saturday 20th September (10 weeks)
Monday 23rd September, King's Birthday. No lessons, public holiday.
​
TERM 4
Monday 9th October-Saturday 16th December (10 weeks)
​
​
Any changes or issues with invoices must be discussed before the scheduled payment date (7 business days prior to term commencing).
We are unable to offer credits due to conflicting circumstances or events.
